Biology in Engineering
This course allowed me to work in a group to develop a state-of-the-art playground for an elementary school. We used our knowledge of playground safety guidelines as well as created an itemized budget.

I took this picture of a playground in Manaus, Brazil to contribute to a class discussion on cross-cultural play.

Research Experience

From Fall 2011 until Spring 2013, I worked in the Language Disorders and Development Lab under the direction of Dr. Janna Oetting. The team was working on a project to determine a more accurate way to identify Specific Language Impairment in children that speak a non-mainstream dialect of English. Some of my responsibilities in the lab included:

                   - transcribing language samples into the Systematic Analysis of Language Transcripts (SALT) software

                   - checking and scoring standardized tests including : DELV, DELV-NR, GFTA, P-TONI and PPVT

                   - entering data into the SPSS software database

Work Samples

Because my path to pursue a Master of Science in Health Administration was not traditional, the following work samples are primarily reflective of my degree in Communication Disorders.

A brochure created for caregivers to identify methods of preventing Speech Sound Disorders in children.

An analysis and critique of the rehabilitation process of a child with hearing loss.

This paper was an analysis written using the data and statistics gathered from the Systematic Analysis of Language Transcripts (SALT) software.

A video project used to practice our diagnostic skills as well as develop our technological skills.
